NTI application to an existing orthodontic retainer

A Discluding Element can be added to an existing orthodontic retainer, as pictured below (provided by Stephen D. Smith, DMD).  Another method would be to make a full arch maxillary vacuum-formed device and adding a DE (described at Custom NTI fabrication)

Pictured below is an example of a custom Daytime NTI device.  In order for this design to be adequate for nighttime (sleep) use, the DE would need to be enhanced to comply with standard NTI protocol. .
